Any Holi celebration would be incomplete without the quintessential Thandai Sherbet. Thandai, also known as Sardai, is an absolutely refreshing and delicious beverage popular in the northern states of India. Thandai Sherbet made using homemade Thandai Masala Powder is 10 times better than those store-bought syrups. Making Thandai Sherbet using Thandai Masala is a breeze. It takes only 5 minutes to prepare the masala and an additional 5 minutes to prepare the sherbet. Traditionally, bhang (cannabis) is added to the Thandai. However, one should be very careful before adding it because of its harmful effects. Nevertheless, Thandai can be equally enjoyed, sans the bhang. With the onset of Holi, the summer season sets in. Thandai is the perfect drink to beat down the scorching heat. - 3 tbsp homemade Thandai Masala Powder
- 300 ml milk (around 2 glasses)
In a vessel or pan, boil the milk. Switch off the flame.
Immediately add the homemade Thandai Masala Powder. Stir well.
Let it cool at room temperature and then place it in the refrigerator for further chilling. Alternatively, you can also add some ice cubes to chill the thandai instantly.
Sprinkle some saffron strands on the top and serve the thandai chilled.
Step By Step Thandai Sherbet Recipe With Photos:
1) Boil the milk. Once the milk boils, switch off the flame.
2) Immediately add 3 tbsp thandai masala powder in the milk. Stir well. Once it cools down, put the vessel in the refrigerator to chill it further.
3) Sprinkle some saffron strands on the top and serve the thandai chilled.
