- 10 Medium-sized prawns
- 1/2 Lemon Lemon juice
- Salt (as per taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi powder)
- 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder (Laal mirch powder)
- 1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder (Dhania powder)
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoon Ginger–garlic paste
- 1 cup Rice flour
- Oil (for frying)
To clean the prawns, first remove their head by pulling and twisting it. Then, firmly hold the tail and gently pull it out to get the flesh. Peel off the remaining shell with your thumbs. To devein the prawns, you can either make a small slit with a knife at the back of the prawns or scrape the flesh gently and pull out the vein (black thread).
Thoroughly wash the cleaned prawns in running tap water.
Take the cleaned prawns in a bowl. Add freshly squeezed juice of a half lemon, salt, and turmeric powder. Mix them well with the prawns.
After 2 minutes, drain any excess water from the prawns. Then, add the ginger–garlic paste, red chilli powder, and coriander powder. Mix them well and let the mixture marinate for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan or kadhai. Add enough oil to cover around 4–5 prawns at a time.
Take rice flour in a plate. After 15 minutes of marination, coat the prawns in the rice flour and carefully add them in the hot oil.
Deep fry the prawns in the oil by turning them around once or twice till they become golden in colour.
Remove the fried prawns on a tissue paper to drain out the excess oil.
